A Taste of Wine

Just a taste of wine left in the glass.
We linger around the seder table
         Full of empty plates.
Fragrances linger, like memories to nourish the mind.

Outside the night deepens, yet I must leave
For a meeting, for people, for work.

Shall I leave this glass, not quite empty,
         Another cup for Elijah?

No. We are all Elijah,
And live with our hats on.
I'll drain the last drops and depart.
